Job Title: Firefighter

Location: Barrow-in-Furness.

Salary – Competitive + shift allowance

What you’ll be doing:

· Responding immediately and safely to emergency calls and requests for assistance

· Attending emergency incidents including fires, medical, road accidents, floods, terrorist incidents, spillages of dangerous substances and air crashes

· Rescuing trapped people

· Minimising distress and suffering, including providing trauma care

· Always Safeguarding your own and other people’s personal safety

· Cleaning up and checking the site after dealing with an incident

· Taking time to become familiar with on-site buildings and hazards so you can respond to emergency calls with speed and efficiency

· Maintaining and testing the appliance (fire engine) and its equipment

· Undertaking scenario-based exercises and core skill training as part of your development and maintenance of operations competence

· Maintaining the level of physical fitness necessary to carry out all the duties as a firefighter

· Educating and informing employees to promote fire safety

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

· Local Authority Fire & Rescue Service Competent Firefighter

· Physically fit and able to undertake practical selection tests (including achieving 8.8 in the Bleep Test & UK Fire Service Fire-Ground Fitness Test) prior to interview

Desirable:

· HGV Class C Licence

· Emergency Fire Service Operations in the Community – NVQ Level 3

The Firefighter Team:

Working as a BAE Systems Submarines Firefighter you will carry out a diverse range of fire safety and rescue activities contributing towards the safety of staff and the building on our Nuclear Submarines.7

The role will provide you with a unique opportunity to join a rapidly growing team offering a wide range of in-house development as well as recognised further education. You will have the opportunity to progress your career into the Crew Commander and Watch Commander roles.
