A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, which must include 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, or budgeting and one year of relevant professional experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
Degree in Accounting
Experience with post award administration of federal grants and contracts
Experience preparing and reconciling billings and complex multi-account reports in accordance with federal guidelines and budget restrictions
Experience auditing for allocable, allowable, reasonable and consistent data
Experience analyzing and reconciling retro-active adjustments
Experience drawing funds from a web-based computer database, e.g., the Payment Management System
Proficiency level; mid/expert with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).

Summary of Duties:
The primary function of this position is to perform professional duties in the field of accounting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The incumbent will create, monitor and maintain awards on sponsored programs; coordinate and provide on-going budget analysis; maintain and monitor grants and contracts; ensure compliance with grant and/or contract requirements; and notify appropriate personnel of actions needed on budget problems. The incumbent will assist with interpreting administrative regulations and policies to staff within the institution and outside agencies. The incumbent will perform accounting duties such as cost share reporting, Facilities and Administrative (F&A) reconciliations, budget reconciliations and accounts receivable collections. The incumbent will prepare financial reports analyzing, interpreting and summarizing data in accordance with the specific agency’s terms and conditions. The incumbent will be responsible for electronically drawing funds from various federal systems as needed to cover expenditures. The incumbent will be responsible for monitoring, reconciling, billing and reporting requirements for federal, state and local agencies which may include the following: Department of Energy; USDA NIFA; USDA-ARS, USDA-Other; medical and biological research; Department of Health & Human Services; Small Business Administration; Economic Development Administration; US Agency for International Development for Small Business Development Center; Department of Education (United States and State of Washington); US Agency for International Development (PDO); Environmental Protection Agency; National Science Foundation; National Endowment for Humanities; NASA and the Department of Interior.
SPS serves WSU system-wide including the Pullman, Everett, Spokane, Tri-Cities, and Vancouver campuses. This position is currently eligible for remote work; the work schedule is required to primarily overlap normal SPS Office hours M-F between 8am - 5pm Pacific Time.

Range 44 | $3,700 to $4,968 (Step A - M) | Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
