      Duties and Responsibilities

      • Repair and maintain, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specification, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments
      • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools
      • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments
      • Repair or replace defective parts.
      • Lubricate and clean parts.
      • May set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools
      • Repair electrical equipment

      Skill and Experience Required

      • Skillful use of hand tools or machines needed for this work
      • Ability to read mechanical schematics and drawings
      • Ability to measure, cut, or otherwise work on materials with great precision
      • Ability to use arithmetic and shop geometry to figure amounts of materials needed, dimensions to be followed, and cost of materials
      • Ability to picture what the finished product will look like
      • Ability to accept responsibility for the accuracy of the work
      • Ability to work as a part of a highly efficient team
      • Strong troubleshooting and assessment skills, with proven ability to take initiative and self-motivate
      • Ability to work in all weather conditions
      • Minimum requirement of one season onboard fishing vessel

      Physical Ability

      • Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug tests
      • Must be capable of boarding and exiting a vessel without physical assistance by climbing up and down a gangplank or using a Jacob’s ladder
      • Must climb or descend one or more set of steep stairs, or vertical ladders inside and outside the vessel in all weather conditions as extreme as 30 degrees below zero
      • Ability to repetitively lift heavy items for long periods of time (up to 100 pounds)

      Work Schedule

      12 hours or more per day for the duration of the trip, including loading and unloading

      Crew share estimated $6,000 per trip (average is two trips per month)

      Ability to work at sea for extended periods of time
