      General Function

      The Fitness Experience Specialist interacts with new and existing members to help them in achieving their health and well-being goals by providing a friendly, safe and clean space. The Fitness Experience Specialist creates a welcoming environment for all members of all backgrounds and abilities.

      Education/Experience/Training/Certifications

      • 18 years of age or older.
      • CPR/AED certifications must be current and / or completed within 6 months of employment.
      • Must have technical skills in the operations and use of a variety of fitness equipment.
      • Preferred 6 months - 1 year of customer service experience.
      • Preferred experience in cleaning such as housekeeping, commercial dayporting, etc.

      Job Duties & Responsibilities

      • Assured wellness areas and equipment are kept clean throughout the day, sanitizing frequently, particularly before and after member use. Maintain a high standard of cleanliness through attention to detail in the wellness center through hourly checks.
      • Monitor all areas of the wellness center, including free weight, cardio and select machine areas to ensure safety.
      • Engage with members on the wellness floor and in group exercise classes. This includes talking with, assisting, demonstrating and enhancing their YMCA experience.
      • Assist other departments with duties as required that ensure the friendliness, cleanliness and overall safety of members.
      • Stay current with advances in the health and wellness field.
      • Familiarize and understand all wellness programs to promote and educate YMCA members.
