- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration from an accredited college or university OR 8 years of experience as m echanic in auto m otive electro/ m echanical syste m s and m aintenance require m ents for light and heavy-duty vehicles.
- 5 years supervisory experience.
- This position requires a current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B with air brakes and tanker endorsement from the state of New Jersey, Pennsylvania or Delaware. Applicants who lack the appropriate CDL at the time of application, but who otherwise are deemed qualified for the position may be considered. If the selected candidate does not have the appropriate CDL at the time of selection, he or she must obtain said CDL within the orientation period. Failure to provide proof of the CDL, which is required to perform the essential duties of the job, for any reason within six (6) months from the candidate’s date of hire will result in the immediate termination of employment.

Basic Purpose of Position:
Oversees all maintenance and repair of Fleet vehicles and equipment. Assures the integrity of the Fleet infrastructure. Supervises Auto Technicians. Maintains a safe and satisfactory environment for employees and patrons.

Major Responsibilities and Duties
DESCRIPTION OF TASK
1.
Directly supervise Auto Technicians -- plans, prepares, presents and monitors daily work schedules/activities including but not limited to shift changes, overtime and relocation of personnel to ensure a smooth transfer of personnel to different projects, tasks and bridges.

Evaluates the condition of the Fleet vehicles and equipment and recommends/executes solutions and improvements. Plans and supervises the installation of equipment and procedures. Recommends improvements to select maintenance activities to improve efficiency to reduce costs.
3.
Initiates requisitions and inventory for material, equipment, services, and supplies stored and used, including recommending procurement of special equipment. Set up new product line demonstrations with vendors.

Evaluates the progress of assigned and contracted work and inspects for compliance and completion. Provides reports on in-house and contracted work (cost, progress and inspection), monthly reports on projects, personnel time, daily work schedules, injury records, bridge damage and repair worksheets. Makes information available to other departments.

Assists in maintaining a safe and secure work environment by participating in required training recognizes and reports hazards, suspicious activities while using all required personal protective equipment
6.
Oversees the changing of equipment for emergency snow removal.
7.
Participates in the preparation of annual budgets, (capital and operating), for materials, equipment and services to conform to budgetary and time requirements.

Train and/or setup training for Construction and Maintenance department and Fleet Management departments/ employees in vehicle and equipment repairs and preventive maintenance.

Hears grievances to ensure proper labor relations and ensures compliance with the contract between DRPA and the represented collective bargaining unit. Ensures compliance with policy, rules and regulations.

Involved in formulating skills and abilities test and the testing process. Evaluate the skill levels of the work force and make recommendations regarding the need for training.

Recommends rewards, discipline and training for all Auto Technicians or other personnel under his or her supervision. Completes performance evaluations. Plans, delegates and monitors completion of tasks and special projects. Recommends hire, review, train, motivate and counsel staff reporting to position.
12.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
