- Graduation from high school or equivalent; and
- Five (5) years of Fleet Management experience pertaining to the service and repair of automobiles, medium/heavy duty trucks, construction equipment and off road machinery, and three (3) years’ experience in a related or non-related supervisory capacity.
- Combination of education, training, and/or work experience equal to or higher than the requirements listed above as determined by Human Resources.
- Possessionofanappropriatedriverlicenseforequipmentoperatedandanylicense,training or certification required by law or regulation to complete assigned tasks.
- Organizes, plans, assigns, schedules, and supervises work of personnel involved in the inspection, repair, maintenance, and servicing of automobiles, trucks, tractors, graders, construction equipment, powered tools, agricultural equipment, and body and paint work.
- Coaches, mentors, and evaluates subordinate employees.
- Inspects maintenance facilities and equipment to determine proper and safe utilization of tools and service equipment.
- Provides diagnostic quality assurance activities and technical assistance to subordinates on difficult or unusual problems.
- Ensures adherence to safety regulations; provides oversight for compliance programs; prepares, submits, and maintains records of all activities; responds to Fleet inquiries from user departments and regulatory agencies; analyzes and implements solutions to new requirements.
- Establishes computerized reports on mechanic productivity, parts, and labor expenses.
- Monitors and evaluates preventative maintenance schedules and procedures to maximize asset availability and cost effectiveness.
- Reviews data on past and current maintenance performance; prepares and maintains records and reports; prepares and validates requirements for facility improvements and repairs.
- Facilitates training an testing for Fleet and other divisions; identifies Fleet staff training needs; locates and schedules training.
- Ensures quality repair of all vehicles and equipment and compliance with FDOT inspection and out of service criteria as set forth in FMCSR.
- Contacts vendors for outside repair work.
- Answers phone, interacts with customers and provides excellent customer service.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices used in the specific area of operations.
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, techniques, and tools used fleet maintenance.
- Basic computer skills necessary to use e-mail, internet and windows-based software
- Knowledge of safety hazards, safety measures to be observed, and safety regulations for fleet maintenance.
- Knowledge of departmental rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and other regulatory agency rules effecting the operation.
- Ability to plan, assign, and effectively supervise work of employees.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
- Ability to establish and maintain a system of records, which are both clear and concise.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
- Ability to interpret and explain City policies and departmental procedures to employees.
- Ability to estimate amounts of material and equipment required for a project.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
Recruitment Range: $35.42 -$41.17 hourly dependent on knowledge and experience

Nature of Work:
The Fleet Services Supervisor performs highly responsible supervisory work directing the daily operations and activity of skilled tradesman and professional technicians.
Under general supervision of the Fleet Division Manager, this position is responsible for the shift operation of the Fleet Maintenance Division involved in the repair of automotive and heavy equipment, construction equipment, powered tools, and agricultural equipment; supervises and directs activities of personnel engaged in inspecting, repairing, maintaining, field service and towing/recovery operations. Performs fleet analysis, inventory control, training activities, and administrative duties; performs related duties, as required.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including City and other government officials, vendors, and the general public; and applies safe work practices. Work is evaluated based on observed and attained results.
