- Assists with routine inspections and basic maintenance of department vehicles, trailers, and equipment
- Supports the organization and upkeep of shop spaces, tools, and supply areas
- Helps ensure equipment and shop operations follow established safety standards and protocols
- Prepares vehicles and equipment for daily field operations (fueling, cleaning, loading supplies)
- Documents inspection reports, maintenance logs, and inventory records
- Responds to basic facility maintenance needs such as cleaning, organizing, and hazard removal
- Performs related work, as required
- May be reassigned during emergency situations

- Previous experience in shop, fleet, maintenance, or safety support role (internships or volunteer work acceptable)
- Basic mechanical aptitude and/or familiarity with hand/power tools
- Understanding of workplace safety practices (OSHA or First Aid training a plus)
- Interest in fleet maintenance, tools, safety, and/or parks operations
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and operate basic tools or machinery
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.

Boulder County Parks & Open Space Department is seeking to hire a Fleet, Shop, Safety Seasonal Assistant. The Shop, Fleet, and Safety Seasonal Assistant is an entry-level position that supports the maintenance, organization, and safety operations of the Parks and Open Space Department. This role works under direct supervision and provides hands-on support in managing equipment, vehicles, shop spaces, and safety-related tasks. This position involves indoor and outdoor work, including exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, dirt, and mechanical hazards. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided.
This is an hourly, non-benefited position that will work 40 hours per week, Monday - Thursday 7 :00am - 5:30pm. This position will work out of 5201 St Vrain Road, Longmont, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime).
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range: $24.04 Hourly
