      The Ministry of Children and Family Development provides services that support healthy, safe environments where children are connected to their family and community. Financial Services Branch works closely with ministry Executive and divisional leads. The Financial Services Branch offers a complete range of financial and management services to support the ministry’s strategic direction and lead the ministry’s system of financial administration.

      Business and Financial Management (BFM) department within FSB supports the different division within the ministry by providing financial advice along with reporting and analysis for budget planning, forecasting, program spending monitoring and commitment management as well as financial training to support staff.

      The Financial Management Analyst is responsible for providing advice to management in the planning, reporting, and analysis of financial information in the delivery of Ministry programs and services. The Financial Management Analyst also provides expenditure forecasting; makes recommendations on accounting operations; participates in the development of financial controls and operations auditing; and ensures financial management practices are consistent with applicable legislation, quality assurance principles and Ministry core policies.

      Job Requirements:

      • Completion of CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) core modules (Core 1, Core 2) or equivalent (CA, CGA, CMA) with a minimum of two (2) years related* experience, OR
      • Diploma in a related discipline (public administration, business administration, finance) and two (2) years related* experience; OR
      • Financial Management Certificate Program and two (2) years related* experience; OR
      • Other relevant equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training may be considered.
      • Preference may be given to applicants with more than three (3) years or more experience.

      Related* experience considered listed below (must demonstrate minimum of three areas):

      • Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring budgets.
      • Experience developing and analyzing financial forecasts including necessary research.
      • Experience analyzing financial and accounting information.
      • Experience developing financial reports.
      • Experience interpreting legislation and conducting analytical research to support budget development and evaluation for the ministry.
      • Experience using a variety of spreadsheet applications including MS Excel at an intermediate level; in particular, experience creating and utilizing pivot tables.

      About this Position:
      Three (3) full time permanent positions available.
      This position can be based in any Ministry of Child and Family Development offices: Burnaby, Campbell River, Creston, Fort Nelson, Fort St. John, Hope, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Port Moody, Surrey, Vancouver, Vernon, Victoria, West Kelowna (Westbank), Williams Lake
      Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to four (4) days at home per week as per the Telework Agreement.
      Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
      An eligibility list may be established for future permanent vacancies.
