      The summer fun starts here! The Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism has 8 aquatic facilities to include: 2 indoor pools, 4 community pools and 2 waterparks. The aquatics department serves over 400,000 visitors a year.

      Location:
      Splashdown Waterpark - 7500 Ben Lomond Park Rd, Manassas, VA

      This position will be responsible for food, beverage and retail products at a Regional Water Park. Responsibilities include assisting the Food and Beverage Manager II with scheduling and supervision of seasonal staff, assisting in the development and implementation of operations controls necessary to ensure consistent, high quality food products and providing outstanding customer service. The Food and Beverage Manager I will assist the Food and Beverage Manager II in training and policy and procedures handbooks. May also include Manager-on-Duty (MOD) responsibilities that require opening and closing of the Water Park.

      Minimum Requirements:
      - This position has a minimum age requirement of 18 years old and a minimum education requirement of High School Diploma or G.E.D.

      The Department of Parks, Recreation conducts DMV records checks on all employees driving for work purposes and criminal background checks on all hires age 18 years and older.

      NATURE OF WORK

      This class is part of the Recreation Job Family. Incumbents supervise the operations, services and personnel at an assigned facility to ensure the safety of all visitors and participants, as well as the cleanness and safety of the facility. Responsibilities include: supervising staff; monitoring and maintaining aquatic environment; maintaining inventory for cleaning, First Aid, and Chemical Supplies; preparing and maintaining activities reports and cash reports.


      Distinguishing Characteristics

      This is a supervisor-level position that is responsible for supervising subordinate staff members and department operations, maintaining cleaning inventories, and ensuring facility safety.

      TYPICAL CLASS RESPONSIBILITIES (These responsibilities are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

      1. Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.

      2. Ensures that all departmental policies and procedures are enforeced at all times throughout the facility.

      3. Maintains and organizes inventory of supplies, parts and/or equipment at assigned location; verifies inventory condition and quantity; and identifies inventory needs.

      4. Inspects, monitors, and maintains recreation equipment and environment.

      5. Prepares and maintains reports and other related documentation.

      6. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

      MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

      High school diploma or G.E.D.


      SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS


      First aid Certification. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification.

      A minimum age requirement may be applicable for certain positions.


      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

      Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

      Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

      Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, inadequate lighting, workspace movement restrictions, and intense noises.
