      We are seeking a Food Service Supervisor to join our rapidly growing team.

      The Opportunity:

      Our Food Service Supervisor organizes and runs day-to-day operation of the Catering To Go program. Maintains standards, systems, and procedures as they relate to a successful service proved to the USC campus community and beyond. Assists in management of staff, supports project planning and execution, maintains direct channels of communication between operators, chefs, staff, and clients.

      The Accountabilities:

      • Performs various administrative duties and supports daily operation of the USC Hospitality Restaurants department and managers. Coordinates Catering To Go sales and operations. Prepares Catering To Go Banquet Event Orders (BEO’s) according to clients’ needs and orders and distributes them to the proper units for execution. Follows up with the operations, culinary, and delivery teams to troubleshoot and problem solve before the client gets affected. Maintains, updates, and tracks order changes, scheduling of delivery staff, and other elements of a successful Catering To Go service. Trains and supervises staff conducting deliveries and charges to clients’ accounts and cards. Closes out and audits Catering To Go checks and completes the billing process with finance and accounting department.

      • Responds to inquiries or requests for information in regards to Catering To Go food and beverage orders, prices, rates, discounts, policies and procedures, etc. or refers to appropriate party, as needed. Screens and prioritizes incoming calls, determining what contacts or action is required to capture the business or for satisfactory disposition. Responds to, tracks, and shares clients’ feedback in regards to services rendered.

      • Programs the databases and systems with the most current menu and pricing. Prepares monthly, weekly, or daily sales analysis as needed. Assists in creating flyers, brochures, and other marketing collateral. Assists with website and mobile ordering software menu updates. Ensures all prices and menus are aligned in all systems and in all print and online forms.

      • Plans, schedules, coordinates and oversees activities of dining room staff on a daily basis and for assigned events.

      • Provides guidance and direction to service personnel. Schedules and assigns workload. Trains food service employees. Demonstrates techniques, equipment or procedures to service personnel.

      • Oversees the set-up and break down of venue.

      • Ensures assigned unit meets and/or exceeds all federal and state health and safety regulations. Conveys established policies and procedures.

      • Responds to and tracks customer requests, complaints and feedback.

      • Oversees cash handling and performs the department’s banking functions. Tracks and reconciles budget activity and analyzes variances.

      • Prepares regular and/or special reports for use in analyses and projections.

      The Qualifiers:

      • Minimum Education: High school or equivalent.

      • Minimum Experience: Three years.

      • Minimum Field of Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge of catering and food service. Demonstrated ability to supervise and train employees.

      The hourly rate range for this position is $23.60 - $28.00. When determining an offer, the University of Southern California considers factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate’s experience, education, training, key skills, internal peer alignment, applicable laws, contractual requirements, grant funding, and market conditions.

      Minimum Education: High school or equivalent.
      Minimum Experience: Three years.
      Minimum Field of Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge of catering and food service. Demonstrated ability to supervise and train employees.
