      ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position is part of the KSFSA bargaining unit. 2 hours per day, 9 months per year. ASSIGNMENT: Under the direction of the central kitchen manager or their designee this position performs duties required for production of meals for students in order to support the nutrition program offered to the students and staff of the Kent School District including meals for special programs, catering and barbecues. Working production duties that may include working on packaging lines, coolers, dish room; working in various central kitchen departments, handling hot and cold food items, cleaning and sanitizing of production equipment. Keep accurate production records for food and supplies ordered and produced, follow and maintain proper food safety and sanitation methods and practices. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or GED. Current food handlers permit. ***Please note that if you do not meet the required qualifications for this position you will not be considered for this position** PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge of large scale food service preparation and food handling techniques. ASFSA (American School Food Service Association) certification. Completion or actively pursuing completion of basic food and nutrition services training program. Ability to work in a team setting; enhance good working relationships with other FNS employees, school staff, students and parents. Ability to maintain accurate records. Knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation practices. Strong customer service, listening and communications skills. Willingness to learn and improve food service skills and knowledge by making use of educational opportunities. Previous food service production and distribution experience or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that would provide the applicant with the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the work. Ability to exhibit multicultural and ethnic understanding and sensitivity with the ability to communicate effectively with all cultural groups in the school community. Experience working with a diverse student population and the specific school demographics preferred Must have good communication skills and strong customer service skills. Must be able to establish and maintain good working relationships with food service staff, other employees, and students. WORKING CONDITIONS: This work requires standing, walking and occasional sitting, some over the head and shoulder lifting, repetitive motions, repetitive lifting of up to 40 pounds, working on wet or slippery floors, bending, pushing, pulling, stretching and working with various machinery and cleaning chemicals, some exposure to a visual terminal and occasional exposure to cold or hot temperatures.
