Job Description

- Conduct Thorough Investigations: Examine cases of fraud, including credit application fraud, internal fraud, and criminal syndicates, by identifying involved parties and gathering evidence suitable for disciplinary hearings and criminal proceedings.
- Identify and Mitigate Risks: Pinpoint control weaknesses and recommend preventative measures, improvements, and training initiatives to mitigate potential fraud and enhance organizational security.
- Collaborate with Law Enforcement: Produce detailed reports, maintain financial crime databases, and liaise with law enforcement agencies to support criminal proceedings and real-time fraud-related inquiries.
- Support Disciplinary and Legal Processes: Recover losses, provide evidence for disciplinary actions and criminal cases, and testify in court and disciplinary hearings as needed
- Forensic investigation experience in fraud-related activities
- Knowledge of fraud detection, prevention, and mitigation strategies
- Collaboration with law enforcement and supporting criminal proceedings
- Experience testifying in court and disciplinary hearings
- Proficiency in maintaining and analysing financial crime databases
- A valid driver's license and own vehicle is required
- Required to be available after hours in case of emergency
- Clear criminal and credit record

About the role
Under the guidance of the Manager of Forensic Investigations, you will conduct in-depth investigations into various fraud-related risks within Capitec. This includes external fraud, such as credit application fraud, as well as internal fraud, serious breaches of policies and procedures, and activities involving criminal syndicates. Your role will involve thoroughly examining each case, identifying the parties involved, and gathering evidence suitable for disciplinary hearings and criminal proceedings. You will also identify control weaknesses and recommend preventative measures, improvements, and training initiatives to mitigate future risks. Your responsibilities will include planning and conducting detailed investigations, recovering losses, and providing evidence for disciplinary actions and criminal cases. Additionally, you will produce comprehensive reports, collaborate with law enforcement, maintain financial crime databases, support real-time fraud-related inquiries, testify in court and disciplinary hearings, and conduct fraud awareness training.
