- Assists with routine receipt, recovery, documentation, photography, preservation, storage, and release of bodies, clothing, personal effects and valuables;
- Assists with collection, examination, measurement, documentation, photography, and processing of evidentiary materials, including trace evidence, clothing, personal effects, weapons, and other objects;
- Assists with case or body examination of autopsy, including handling, opening, and closing of bodies and organ evisceration and dissection;
- Handles, lifts, moves, covers, and uncovers cadavers, body parts, tissues, fluids, clothing, valuables, weapons, and other possibly dangerous or contaminated objects;
- Assists with appropriate collection, preservation, labeling, documentation, storage, submission, and retrieval of tissues and samples for toxicologic, histologic, microbiologic, and other analyses;
- Assists with case or body findings, injury, or disease observation, measurement, and documentation, including the taking, making or reviewing of notes, sketches, drawings, photographs, and the taking, developing, and reviewing of x-rays;
- Assists with appropriate preservation, labeling, documentation, storage, submission, and retrieval of photographic and x-ray materials;
- Assists with setting up for and obtaining identification of bodies and remains through visual, dental, fingerprinting, radiographic, and other techniques and experts;
- Obtains continuing education and training as available and as directed in order to maintain high standards and learn and implement new technical skills and methods;
- Maintains clean and orderly autopsy stations and work area after the completion of cases to prepare the autopsy suite for the following day.
- Maintains inventory of needed supplies, PPE, equipment, and reports supply or equipment issues to supervisor in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma.
- Mortuary or forensic experience preferred.
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations affecting the operation of the Medical Examiner's Office.
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures;
- Knowledge of customer service and telephone etiquette;
- Knowledge of forensic techniques and safety procedures;
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Performs the technical duties involved with the investigation of deaths reported to the Medical Examiner, particularly with regard to evidence and body examination.
