Job Title: Forklift Operator

Job Description

Join our team as a Shipper/Receiver and Order Picker at our new facility. You will be responsible for operating a sit-down counterbalance forklift in narrow aisle rooms, handling heavy lifting of up to 50 lbs, and ensuring the safe movement of produce boxes. Your role will primarily involve working in banana rooms, utilizing high reach forks to manage tall pallets. Additionally, you will load and unload trailers for internal transfers, verify orders with RF scanners, and manage paperwork with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Operate sit-down counterbalance forklift in narrow aisles and trailers.
• Load and unload products from incoming trucks.
• Identify and report improper inventory counts and damages.
• Label products accurately before storage.
• Use RF scanners to verify and manage orders.
• Load orders safely and accurately as per shipment confirmations.
• Manually unload, pick products, check paperwork, and ensure shipment order accuracy.
• Handle, break, and palletize products, wrapping and unwrapping as necessary.
• Communicate effectively, managing paperwork with strong verbal and written skills.

Essential Skills

• 2 years of experience with sit-down counterbalance forklifts.
• Experience in narrow spaces such as trailers and narrow aisles.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Proficiency with RF scanners.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 1 year of experience with reach forklifts.
• Experience in a food distribution company is preferred.
• Experience with stand-up forklifts is a plus.

Work Environment

You will work in a cooler environment with temperatures ranging from 5 to 10 degrees Celsius. Wearing proper PPE and adhering to food safety regulations is mandatory. The company fosters a positive work environment with an 'open door' policy, though weekend availability and overtime are expected. Each shift comprises about 30 people, and the morning shift runs from 6 am to 2:30 pm. You can wear comfortable clothing, including steel-toe boots that cover the ankles.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
