  Job Title: Forklift Operator

  Job Description

  This role involves off-loading and on-loading goods from containers using a propane SDCB forklift. The position requires operating the forklift about 80% of the shift, working quickly yet safely in tight quarters. The operator will handle freight of varying sizes and weights, necessitating experience in such environments. Responsibilities include using paper shipping documents and transitioning to complex digital shipping software. The facility is open, and the operator must maneuver in tight spaces and manage both small and large shipments.

  Responsibilities

  • Ensure the correct handling of freight using paper shipping documents and digital shipping software.
  • Navigate tight spaces safely while operating the forklift for about 80% of the shift.
  • Manage freight that varies in size, shape, and weight, ensuring safe and efficient handling.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on safety and efficiency.

  Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year experience operating a SDCB forklift in an LTL environment.
  • Valid forklift certification.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively.
  • Reliable transportation.

  Work Environment

  The work environment is fast-paced and operates 24 hours, depending on truck arrivals and departures. It's a busy setting with forklifts moving rapidly yet safely. The multicultural team is independent, with approximately 50 operators per shift. The dress code requires steel-toed boots. Shifts run from Sunday to Thursday, 11pm to 7am. The facility is equipped with over 50 dock doors, handling diverse products ranging from fridges to tires.

  The pay range for this position is $24.75 - $25.75/hr.
