- Provide auxiliary services related to center's foster care program in accordance with center, division, organization, and contract requirements.
- Provide transportation for foster children to and from medical appointments or family visits, during placement or replacement, and with social worker to clinics, other services, etc.
- Supervise children during appointments either at home, office or at other appropriate sites.
- Maintain familiarity with organizational services provided and local human service organizations to accurately inform and refer persons requesting service and information.
- Observe and document the child, foster parents and birth parents according to policy; report observations to social worker with case responsibility.
- Obtain reports (e.g., court reports, school reports, birth records, etc.), and resource information from other organizations on behalf of social worker, as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintain familiarity with and keep a resource file of procedures and operations for various medical and/or educational facilities in the community which provide services for children and families.
- Associate's degree in human services or related field preferred.
- One year experience working in a child welfare or related service setting preferred.
- Ability to work creatively and effectively in team setting as well as independently.
- Ability and willingness to interact with compassion, sensitivity and empathy to children.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables.
- Ability to read, speak and write English language. Fluent in the language of the clients served preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to write using proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
- Able to use basic computer software applications.
- Automobile travel required.
- Valid unrestricted driver's license with good driving record. Valid proof of automobile insurance.
- Ability to lift/carry small children.
- May need to physically assist older children weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Near visual acuity.
- Hand-eye coordination.
- Hand and finger dexterity.

FOSTER CARE CASE AIDE - FULL TIME - PORT HURON AREA
Do you have one year of experience working in a child welfare or a related service setting? We have a full time opportunity for a Foster Care Case Aide Worker at our Port Huron-area location. Some automobile travel is required and a valid, un-restricted driver's license with a good driving record and valid proof of automobile insurance in your name are required for this people-centric role. You will supervise children during their appointment, either at their home, our offices or other appropriate sites, observing and documenting the child, foster parents and birth parents according to policy; report observations to social worker.
