      This position performs Out of Shelter Fostering. Foster homes provide a place for animals that: are too small for surgery, need to recover from medical needs, are on pregnancy watch, or may need time to decompress. Fostering is not intended as a “foster to adopt” or trial adoption opportunity.

      Work is performed and duties are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Borough core values: Accountability, Customer Focus, Dedication, Integrity, Responsiveness and Teamwork.

      Minimum age to volunteer for this position is 18 years old.

      Minimum age to volunteer for this position is 18 years old.

      Volunteers selected must complete an interview, successfully pass a background check, attend a one-hour orientation, complete two training sessions, and online training.

      • Must complete and pass a Foster Home Inspection.
      • Complete Foster Liability Waiver.
      • Fosters are to comply with Title 24.
      • Fosters are not to bring foster dogs to dog parks, or allow interaction with animals outside of the foster home.
      • Animals in the foster home must be up to date on age appropriate vaccines.
      • Animals in the foster home must be spayed/neutered, or the foster animal must be spayed/neutered to be considered.
      • Fosters must complete Fear Free Certification within 7 days of Foster Orientation.
