This is a position as a Freezer Palletizer on 1st shift at Ice Cream Specialties (a division of Prairie Farms Dairy) in Lafayette, IN. 1st shift hours: 8 AM-4 PM, Monday - Friday (some mandatory Saturdays)

What is a Freezer Palletizer?

As a Freezer Palletizer, you'll help with placing our finished products onto pallets for storage, and prepare the pallets for shipping to the external customer. You will be working with products such as: ice cream cones, popsicles, fudge bars, ice cream bars, doggie sundaes, and ice cream sandwiches! Did we mention you can eat free ice cream on your breaks?

What are the r esponsibilities of a Freezer Palletizer?

• Sort and stack all finished product
• Communicate with Palletizer Leader concerns regarding the function and condition of product, freezer supplies and/or equipment (including conveyor system)
• Ability to lift over 500 cases per shift
• Other duties assigned by supervisor

What are the e ssential skills and experience needed to be a Freezer Palletizer?

• Negotiate a ladder and stairs
• Average math and reading skills
• Organization skills
• Hand and wrist movement to grasp, hold and move product consistently
• Time management
• Strong team player
• Communication skills: ability to communicate with other freezer personnel
• The ability to work Saturdays is necessary !

Nonessential Skills:

• This is an entry level position, but previous food service experience or packaging is great!

What is the w ork environment for a Freezer Palletizer at Ice Cream Specialties?

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to very cold temperature conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be extremely loud. While the decibel is not high enough to require hearing protection, it is offered.

What are the physical demands of the job?

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be able to work standing for long periods of time. Must be able to stoop, kneel, reach, lift and must be able to work under these conditions every day. This job requires frequent stacking of product with weights up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
