- Provide buying support for Category Management teams, production plants, and Ball’s customers to ensure that goods are delivered at competitive prices for the organization.
- Manage freight service contracts through contract lifecycle, and proactively communicate and strategize expiring contracts.
- Review current and forecasted spend to identify value add projects that will drive savings, develop savings and actual savings must then be tracked and reported on a monthly basis.
- Review incoming purchase requisitions to ensure that the necessary documentation, specifications, attachments, etc., are included and conduct and necessary follow ups.
- Develop a view of the balance between supply and demand and actively monitors market conditions on an ongoing basis in order to make informed decisions.
- Responsible for the development and evaluation of “go to market” strategies for select categories and can achieve creative commercial outcomes through negotiation planning and successful execution.
- Develop the detailed category management strategy, identify savings opportunities, own the category strategy implementation and execution activities, define the annual goals, and will be the primary owner of the management of the supplier relationship process, including assessing and evaluating suppliers, contributing to performance reviews and working with suppliers to resolve price, quality, or delivery issues.
- Leads the performance management process for select suppliers, including regular business reviews and working with suppliers to resolve price, quality, or delivery issues.
- Proactively reports progress against regional sourcing goals/for the specified period.
- Serve as a resource for routine questions and issues relating to freight buying for stakeholders and Ball’s customers.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 3 or more years of progressively increasing responsibility in Sourcing, Category Management, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Management Consulting, or business-related operations in a global environment.
- 2 or more years’ experience specifically in logistics category.
- Solid understanding of category management, strategic sourcing, and supplier relationship management principles and application.
- Demonstrated ability analyze large data sets and recognize patterns in data, information, or events to draw logical conclusions and recommendations.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including but not limited to quantitative (financial and non-financial) and qualitative analysis of internal and external data to support the strategies of the Procurement organization.
- Financial analytical skills and experience in enhancing value through negotiations.
- Good understanding of the procure-to-pay process and procurement-related policies, procedures, processes and risks, and the ability to apply that understanding to daily work.
- Strong knowledge with advanced digital/AI tools in business intelligence (e.g. Tableau, Qlik, Power BI)
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, ERP systems (such as: JDE, Procure-To-Pay systems) Transportation Management Systems (TMS) , eProcurement systems, and online portal/market tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal and effective negotiation skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% (domestically and internationally).
- Advanced certifications (CPM, CPSM, CPSC or PMP) or higher education (such as MBA).
- Hiring Salary Range: $83,200- $124,660 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
- This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.

- Hybrid On-Site Work Environment: Based in Colorado, this position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three (3) or more days per work week (with core collaboration days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Travel and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
