      DMPA is seeking team members in the Usher, Guest Services Counter, and Admissions roles. Experience and interest will be discussed during the interviews. Please see requirements when applying. This position requires evening and weekend availability.

      USHER / GUEST SERVICES COUNTER

      Provide assistance in a friendly and courteous manner to all Des Moines Performing Arts guests. Assist guests with any needs that may arise.

      Essential Functions and Responsibilities

      • Ensure the proper enforcement of venue policies and procedures.
      • Have knowledge of venue to assist with finding seats and emergency exits.
      • Able to walk up and down multiple stairs, through aisles and able to stand for minimum of 60 minutes at a time.
      • Oversees specific area inside the venue, monitoring guests.
      • Communicate with supervisor and security via radio regarding any issues with guests.
      • Distributes programs and other items.
      • Clean general area to the best of ability post-performance (i.e. programs, water bottles).
      • Trained and able to perform in other Volunteer roles (Admissions, Greeter).
      • Able to stand for up to 60 minutes at a time and walk up and down stairs.
      • Communicate well with guests and provide excellent customer service.
      • Understand the use of and able to troubleshoot the various technologies including assisted listening devises, Iris devices and media test player.
      • Properly handle, clean and distribute items such as hearing devices, earplugs, binoculars, and booster seats.
      • Organize and operate coat check.
      • Able to handle small amounts of cash.
      • Assist with the distribution of pre-purchased beverages/snacks to guests.
      • Unlocking and locking of cabinets, fridges and shelves in the Guest Services Counter area.

      ADMISSIONS

      Ensure all entering guests are properly approved before gaining access to the venue.

      Essential Functions and Responsibilities

      • Monitor scanning of tickets at venue entrances.
      • Knowledgeable of ticket errors and able to communicate to guest and Ticket Office in specific cases.
      • Able to stand for a minimum of 60 minutes.
      • Informed of specific age policies per performance and able to enforce them with all guests.
      • Have general knowledge of ticket scanner technology.
      • Trained and able to perform in other Volunteer roles (Usher, Greeter).
      • Provide feedback as necessary.
      • Work events as required/assigned.
      • Other duties as assigned.
