      The Opportunity

      An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen at Hinkley Point B Power Station to join our highly skilled and motivated Fuel Route Engineering Group. In our team, you will have a high level of responsibility, ensuring our Plant is operated and maintained safely and effectively. You will also ensure it is adapted to the changing requirements as we move through defueling into deconstruction.

      Over the last 46 years, Hinkley Point B has generated 311 TWh of low carbon energy and is now progressing through the Defueling stage, which involves the safe removal of all spent fuel from the reactor core, the cooling ponds and stores whilst proactively looking ahead to Decommissioning and Deconstruction.

      Pay, Benefits and Culture


      We are offering a salary of £40,069 – £84,892 that apply with our terms and conditions covered by the EDF Company Agreement. The starting salary for the appointment will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experiences and qualification.       What you’ll be doing

      You will have responsibility for specifying and addressing short-term plant defects and providing day-to-day support to maintenance teams. As well as potentially being the responsible engineer for one or more assigned plant systems. Duties within this include the following:

      • Fault finding, monitoring and evaluating system status
      • Specifying work orders to address plant defects
      • Identifying and managing plant risks
      • Being the source of technical expertise on plant components/ systems
      • Ensuring important equipment is identified and that correct preventative maintenance programmes are in place to prevent unanticipated equipment failures.
      • Managing activities that are to be carried out and completed with full regard to site licence requirements, statutory regulations, company and location directives, procedures and safety rules.
      • Performing Condition monitoring, performance trending, plant walk downs and System Health Reviews as required
      • Working across the department to support business needs
      • Acting with commercial awareness

      Who you are

      We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who will have a nuclear safety focus in all activities and responsibilities undertaken. You will also need to maintain knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, liaising with peers in other engineering groups within the fleet to share best practises and to continually improve local and fleet performance.

      As a minimum, entrants will have a relevant HNC (or equivalent) Candidates with a relevant degree may have an advantage.
      Background in nuclear power plant operations, engineering or maintenance would be an advantage but is not essential.

      You will need to have an Electrical, Mechanical or C&I background.

      Training will be provided based on existing experience.
