      Description of Job Responsibilities:

      Giulia Brancaccio (NYU) and Karam Kang (University of Wisconsin-Madison) are hiring a 1-year predoctoral fellow at the NBER for work in applied microeconomics with a focus on finance, industrial organization, sustainability, and environmental economics.

      Research assistants will report directly to Professors Brancaccio and Kang and will interact with them on a regular basis. They will be involved in all stages of the research process and be expected to work independently within the scope of their responsibilities. Duties include, but are not limited to, conducting literature reviews, identifying datasets, organizing data, conducting statistical analysis, collaborating on research design, interpreting results, and drafting and editing manuscripts and presentations.

      The position will run from July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025, with some flexibility on start and end dates, and is subject to availability of funds.

      Job location: Work will be conducted on-site at the NBER, Cambridge MA with flexibility.

      Required Background:

      The prospective applicant should have a strong undergraduate training in economics, math, statistics, or computer programming, and have advanced programming skills in Stata or R. Programming experience in Python or Julia is preferred. Applicants who will graduate in the winter of 2024 will also be considered. Ideally the applicant will have research experience, a demonstrated interest in applied microeconomics, and an interest in pursuing a research career. Knowledge of applied econometrics and familiarity with data analysis is a plus, as is completing an advanced (e.g. Masters) degree.
