- Consultant of the week 7-Day - Inpatient (1:8 weeks)
- Outpatient Duties (7:8 weeks)
- Sub -speiality interest in Hepatology
- 24 Hr Out of Hours Upper GI Emergency Endoscopy Out fo Hours Rota (1in8)
- Total Direct Clinical Care (DCC): 7.5 PA
- Support Professional Activities (SPA) - 2.5 SPA OFF ward (7:8 weeks, 1.5 SPA On Ward (1:7 weeks)
- Options to increase clinical or management PAs (by discussion, max 12 PA total)
- Innovations to improve local services will be supported (e.g. Large Polypectomy, BSCP etc)
- An Education or Research interest can be support by discussion and mutual agreement.
- Undertake managerial duties associate with the care of their patients and the running development of their clinical department
- Engage fully with the Hospital Strategy and the strategic direction of the wider Trust
- Full GMC Registration with a license to practice
- The post-holder should hold MRCP (UK) or an equivalent qualification
- Entry on Specialist Register in Gastroenterology and General (internal) Medicine via one of the following: a) Certificate of Training (CCT) b) Certificate of eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) c) European Community Rights
- An appropriate higher degree e.g. MD, PHD or equivalent
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining (UK) CCT in General Medicine and Gastroenterology
- Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on range of problems both emergency and elective within the relevant speciality
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
- JAG accreditation in Upper Endoscopy and Colonoscopy (UK trainees)
- Ability to participate in an Emergency Upper Endoscopy rota (including GI bleeds)
- Interest and expertise in sub-speciality within Gastroenterology and/ or Hepatology
- Accreditation in ERCP
- Accreditation in EUS
- Accreditation in BSCP
- Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems
- An awareness of current speciality specific developments and initiatives
- Publications in relevant peer reviewed journals in the last 5 years
- Evidence of having undertaken original research
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively
- Ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of specialist service
- Ability to manage and lead the speciality and multi-disciplinary team
- Experience of audit management and conducting clinical audit
- Ability to use the evidence based and clinical audit to support decision making
- Flexible and willingness to adapt to new challenges
- Ability to work in a team enquiring, critical approach to work
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other agencies
- Commitment to Continuing Medical Education
- Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local regional and national level
- Must be able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust's Values and Behaviours
- An understanding of the current NHS environment, particularly in relation to reforms, initiatives and issues
- Able to meet the travel requirements of the job and return to the hospital within 60 minutes when on call
- Ability to align personal and professional priorities with those of the Trust

The Hepatology team at Hereford continues to progressively and proactively evolve. The department is actively seeking an additional Consultant Gastroenterologist with an interest in Hepatology to support grow and evolve our Hepatology services.
