      G ear System Design Engineer
      Location: Auburn Hills, MI
      Duration: 6-12 months+ contract
      ( US citizenship or permanent residency required)

      Position Responsibilities:

      The Gear System Design Engineer is responsible for the creative design of power transmission components for transmissions and gearboxes for various applications and industries. Applications may include transmissions, transfer cases, axles, electric and hybrid drive systems, wind turbine gear boxes, and other rotating equipment and power transmission applications. The Gear System Design Engineer will be responsible for system, sub-system, and component (gears, shafts, bearings, etc.) level design and analysis. The Gear System Design Engineer is responsible for the accurate and timely completion of new designs and improvements to existing designs. There will be significant involvement and responsibility in the layout, detail design, hand calculations, CAE analysis, procurement, inspection, and validation testing within each project. The Gear System Design Engineer will create and maintain engineering and quality documentation, as well as make regular presentations reviewing concepts, identifying risks, and outlining potential methods of implementation.

      Qualifications:
      • BSME minimum
      • 5+ years gear system design experience from concept through production
      • Demonstrated experience designing transmission and gearbox rotating systems and related component selection (gears, shafts, clutches, bearings, seals, etc.)
      • Demonstrated expertise using gear design tools such as KISSsoft/KISSsys, MASTA, LDP mandatory
      • Highly creative ability to interpret requirements and design new technical concepts
      • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes
      • Thorough knowledge of quality procedures and practices such as DFMEA, DVP&R, etc.
      • Strong knowledge of CAD modeling procedures, drafting practices, and GD&T application (ASME Y14.5)
      • Hands-on experience with 3D CAD modeling tools such as CATIA V5, Unigraphics NX, or CREO a plus
      • Exposure to FEA & MBS analysis a plus
      • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
      • US citizenship or permanent residency required
