Job Description

- Provides instruction and support to a diverse population of customers for those who are in the process of achieving their GED.
- Provides information on training opportunities that improve basic skill level on a computer-based delivery system. Assists customers in using the training and tutorials offered in the lab or through remote locations. Work activities may be performed at the Citizens Service Center (1675 Garden of the Gods Rd).
- Administers and oversees tutoring learning lab and any testing associated with preparing customers to successfully pass their GED or equivalent test.
- Administers training and pre/post assessments for General Education Diploma, Adult Basic Education and other vocational preparation. Works directly with case managers and outside referring agencies by providing information on level of ability and offer recommendations for level and type of training needed by their customers.
- Works with community organizations and partners to facilitate enrollments and communicate the benefits/opportunities available through the program; prepares and delivers approved presentations and distributes outreach materials.
- Maintains accurate electronic and hard copy documentation. Enters data timely into appropriate Management Information Systems (MIS). Reviews and evaluates participants progress and status and track results.
- Attends educational training sessions and staff meetings to enhance skills and program development.
- Cultivates close relationships with online GED partners and/or school officials to gain insight regarding available opportunities.
- Maintains Learning Lab equipment through regular cleaning and maintenance activities. Keeps lab area clean and provide a professional environment for customers.
- Increases community knowledge and use of GED Tutoring services and products.
- Participates in community sponsored events at schools, private and public employers and other activities.
- Collaborates with Young Adult team to ensure customers are meeting their individual assessment plan.
- Participates as needed in Work Readiness Series to ensure customers are educated in soft skills and the skills needed to maintain employment.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Successful completion of bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and ability for the position may be considered in lieu of the degree.
- One (1) year full-time work experience teaching or training older youth and adults in a classroom or workshop setting.
- Knowledge of workforce assistance programs a plus.
- Experience working in working in GED and/or tutoring a plus.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and department policies and procedures. Ability to write correspondence.
- Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to apply math concepts and calculations in the work environment. Ability to apply common sense to problem solve in a work environment.
- Ability to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction to internal customers, participants and contracted customers.
- Ability to identify opportunities and recommend actions for continuous improvement in all activities.
- A flexible team player with the ability to work successfully in a changing environment. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities required.
- Must possess a high level of professionalism, interpersonal skills and integrity to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information.
- Ability to build strong working relationships, both internal and external to the organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. Must be receptive to adoption and application of new and innovative technologies and technological platforms.
- Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Wagner-Peyser, Workforce Development Board (WDB), El Paso County and CLIENT policies, programs and guidelines to achieve the overall objectives of the position.

Hourly Pay Rate: $27.35
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

JOB SUMMARY:
The Client is a dual county consortium serving both El Paso and Teller Counties. Provides quality assessment and education support utilizing a computer-based delivery system and/or written training material for a diverse customer base that encompasses illiterate to post-secondary levels of education. Responsible for pre/post testing of customers and monitoring progress through one-on-one interaction. Develops and participates in outreach activities that increases awareness of tutoring program. Participants in a collaborative effort with regional GED and/or high school equivalency programs. Position reports to Program Services Team Lead. Position is subject to grant funding.
