      Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Senior Underwriter, General Aviation, in our Aviation team based within the London Market business.

      Our Aviation Underwriting team provides risk transfer solutions to a varied client base within all facets of the Aviation industry. The London team is responsible for underwriting all major risk globally excluding Japan and General Aviation excluding Japan and USA. We focus on building excellent relationships with our clients and brokers, fostering long-term partnerships underpinned by decades of collective experience and technical knowledge.

      What you’ll be doing:

      • Develop and execute General Aviation strategy for London Wholesale in conjunction with the wider General Aviation portfolio
      • Responsible for delivering sustainable growth within the General Aviation Wholesale portfolio and increasing Sompo London team’s footprint in this area
      • Utilizing strong industry and market knowledge to underwrite effectively
      • Utilizing current relationships and fostering new ones between clients and brokers
      • Perform contract negotiation, attending client meetings and travel for client visits
      • Understand and operate within parameters defined by LOAs and Reinsurance programme
      • Responsible for overseeing the timely issuance of documentation and record keeping, enabling accurate monthly reporting
      • Work within an established, well respected and dynamic team contributing to the underlying ethos of continuous improvement to deliver value to our partners and shareholders alike
      • Effectively interact, communicate and negotiate with all levels of external and/or internal business partners (such as Distribution, Claims, Operations, Finance)
      • Representing Sompo externally at the highest level including marketing efforts with clients and brokering partners, in commercial negotiations, participation in industry forums and other external drives to raise Sompo International’s profile within the marketplace

      What you’ll bring:

      • 10+ years of underwriting/industry experience
      • Experience in working, producing and underwriting business within the General Aviation sub class
      • Good technical knowledge of both industry specifics and policy wordings
      • Experience in developing and formalizing underwriting strategy
      • Excellent relationships with General Aviation Wholesale brokers
      • Enthusiasm and energy to deliver targets
