      SUPERVISES:There are no direct reports with this position.

      POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision, the General Clerk II executes a variety of clerical tasks by independently, selecting and applying the appropriate guideline or procedure based on a limited number of substantive guides and manuals. This position requires familiarity with the terminology of the office unit. The clerical steps often vary in type or sequence, depending on the task. Recognized problems are referred to others.

      TYPICAL DUTIES: 1. *Assists in a variety of administrative matters and performs a variety of administrative functions2. *Coding and filing documents in a chronological or alphabetical file3. *Operates office equipment such as copier, scanner, fax machine, telephone, computer, etc.4. *Chooses among widely varying methods and procedures to process complex transactions5. *Selects or devises steps necessary to complete assignments6. *Posts or enters data to individual database or spreadsheet software7. *Sorts and distributes office mail8. *Assists with staff and employee meetings9. *Assists with recurring internal reports10. *Calculates and posts charges to departmental accounts, including processing invoices11. *Maintains office supply inventory12. Documents agendas and minutes for departmental meetings13. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned

      TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:• 1-2 years of experience in the general clerical field• Basic computer skills including email and MS Office software, and knowledge of office equipment are required• Oral and written communication skills• Ability to act responsively to customer inquiries and requests and escalate issues as appropriate• Human relations skills to maintain effective relationships with others and work in a team environment• Mathematical ability including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

      EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

      High School Diploma or GED

      CERTIFICATES OR LICENSES REQUIRED:

      The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements.

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:

      • Maneuvering to and around equipment • Bending, stooping, and reaching• Utilizing keyboard• Monitoring computer systems• May include viewing computer/CCTV monitor(s) and detailed work requiring close vision• Moving or lifting boxes up to 25 pounds • Answering/making phone calls • Communicating with others

      WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed at a customer’s location in an office/shop environment with limited privacy and some exposure to background noise and/or noise from equipment. Transporting to locations with the work site may be required. Employees may also be exposed to extreme cold or heat.
