      Position Overview

      Reporting to the Program Team Manager, Cardiac Diagnostics and Cardiac Clinics, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the General Duty Cardiology Technologist is responsible for:

      • Performing electrocardiograms.
      • Carrying out peer/trainee functional instruction.
      • Performing graded exercise tests (GXT).
      • Performing Holter hook-ups and analysis.
      • And performing other related duties as assigned.

      Individual work assignments of staff within/between the areas that comprise the Non-Invasive Cardiac Diagnostics Department (i.e., EKG, Holter and Stress Lab) will vary based on individual skills sets and staffing levels required to provide safe, quality patient care. Staff will receive the appropriate orientation and training as required based on their work assignment(s).

      Experience

      • Recent experience as a certified Cardiology Technologist is preferred.

      Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

      • Successful completion of the Cardiology Technician Certification Program from Red River College or other recognized educational institution required.
      • Advanced CSCT certification or recognized equivalent required.

      NOTE: Applicants who obtained their certification by CSCT at the advanced level prior to 1995 and are currently still certified at the advanced level will be deemed to meet the above qualification requirements.

      Certification/Licensure/Registration

      • Current certification of the Canadian Society of Cardiology technologists (CSCT) required.

      Qualifications and Skills

      • Knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in the use of common software including email and internet applications required.
      • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with various levels of personnel, both internally and externally and within an inter-professional team required.
      • Demonstrated ability to adapt readily and respond with initiative to a changing environment required.
      • Demonstrated planning, organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize workload required.
      • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills required.
      • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical analysis skills required.
