- You will manage significant multi-discipline projects, with complete responsibility for all technical aspects of the projects.
- You will prepare unique original concepts and preliminary and final design documents with regard to Navy crane user requirements, design codes, safety and cost effectiveness.
- You will ensure proper integration of assignment with other Navy crane engineers responsible for the adequacy of related Crane Reliability, Improvement, and Safety Program (CRISP) features.
- You will provide expert consultant services as it relates to Weight Handling Equipment to Navy military and civilian personnel.
- You will manage the configuration of regional cranes to ensure compliance with Navy standards.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Applying knowledge of WHE (Weight Handling Equipment) electrical, mechanical, or structural engineering, operating conditions, and design approaches to provide expert advice on complex work assignments and work out effective compromises between conflicting requirements;
- Coordinating, planning, and executing WHE projects;
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and manufactures manuals and schematic instructions;
- Independently planning, organizing, and scheduling work to meet deadlines; and
- Making presentations and technical reports in oral and written form to management.

Qualifications
This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico or Guam. You must provide a copy of your current registration with your application.
In addition to the basic requirements and selective placement factor for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
