- Maintains and reconciles general ledger account balances by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies. Communicating and resolving questions with District departments such as Supply Chain and Maintenance as they arise.
- Tracks/reconciles prepaid expenses and amortizes over appropriate period.
- Records activity for accounts such as those held by the Treasurer’s Office and reconciles prior to the monthly GL closing to ensure accurate and timely information for the monthly financial statements. Communicates with Treasurer’s Office to initiate transfers between accounts, based on business needs and account balances/volume.
- Submits investment requests to the Treasurer’s Office to transfer excess funds to the interest-bearing WA State Investment Pool.
- Posting General Ledger journal entries in a timely and accurate manner.
- Prepares miscellaneous entries including prepaid expenses, bank activity and transfers, clinic reclassifications, department cost transfers, depreciation, and transfer of completed project accounts from CIP to fixed assets.
- Preparation of selected work papers for annual Financial Statement audit, SAO audit, and Cost Report.
- Prepares state annual report of self-insurance and annual SAM.Gov registration.
- Files annual business license renewals in advance of the annual due dates and provides licenses to Facilities Department for posting as required by law.
- Annual fixed asset review/inventory. This includes distributing assets lists by department for review to include individual meetings, as necessary.
- Finance portion of Surplus Disposition process and posting disposals in the Fixed Asset system, as needed.
- Completion of daily and monthly statistics worksheets on a regular basis.
- Responsible for training and implementing quality improvements in General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Cash Control. Covering vacation for Accounts Payable and Cash Control as needed.
- Assists with selected payroll functions, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate’s degree in accounting or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
- Ability to build strong business partnerships.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
- Solid technical and reporting skills to assist organization with rapid decision analytics.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and hospital/clinic accounting systems.
- Ability to be productive in an open workspace environment.
- Ability to use email, fax, printer, and calculator.
- Able to create, model and sustain a positive environment, effective collaboration, counseling, conflict resolution skills.
General Ledger Accountant: This 1.0 FTE/Full-time position is scheduled to work 8-HR day shifts Monday-Friday.
Compensation: Exempt, $34.47/HR-$49.24/HR

Job Summary:
The General Ledger Accountant maintains the hospital and clinic general ledger. This position reconciles selected accounts on a regular basis and communicates with the Treasurer’s Office to confirm all fund activities reconcile to the general ledger. Is responsible for periodic cash transfers and investing excess cash in the WA State Investment Pool on a regular basis. Responsible for fixed assets, prepaid expense activity and monthly journal entries. This position is also responsible for training and assisting with the daily activities for accounts payable and cash control desk staff and acts as backup during vacations and time off. Additional responsibilities include preparation of work papers for the annual Financial Statement audit, SAO Audit and cost report and assisting staff with related work papers and reconciliations.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
