      Position Summary

      The Geology Analyst independently performs varied data analysis in support of the Geoscience Department. The employee operates as a technical professional working under general supervision and guidance from Geoscientists and Technical Manager.       Key Accountabilities

      • Assists with developing, organizing, and managing existing corporate geologic data and databases.
      • Offers input on improvements to geological databases as dictated by changing corporate needs.
      • Provides broad-based analytical geoscience support and assistance to the Geoscience department. This includes but is not limited to coordinating access to multiple data types, loading data into interpretation software, and collecting and maintaining data from state and industry databases (IHS, DI, TGS).
      • Maintains documentation for Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
      • Works daily in a collaborative environment handling team requests and provides support as an individual contributor to progress projects.
      • Supports geologists by ensuring project data analysis is kept up-to-date and meets data requirements necessary to maintain work processes.
      • Assists with future software upgrades, transitions, and database migrations.
      • Coordinates with other departments to resolve data-driven problems.
      • Provides intermediate-level, discipline-specific training to systems users as needed.
      • Actively participates in team meetings, contributes to decisions, and shares responsibility for team-directed activities.
      • Complies with all Company Safety and Environmental policies, practices, and programs. Takes corrective action within training limitations. Escalates as necessary.
      • Participates in and adheres to all training programs designed to enhance HSE knowledge, safety standards, and improve job performance.
      • Performs other duties as assigned.

      Education, Certificates, Licenses

      • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience in related field required.

      Experience

      • 5+ years of progressive work experience supporting geologists within oil and gas exploration and production.

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

      Critical:

      • Demonstrated ability to think analytically and solve complex problems with minimal guidance.
      • Ability to balance and understand both back-end organization of data and front-end user accessibility.
      • Intermediate knowledge of industry-standard software such as Kingdom, Petrel, and WellView.
      • Proficient in manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting geological data with minimal guidance.
      • Communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
      • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment to drive results.
      • Intermediate level database management and organization skills required.
      • Experience loading, managing, and analyzing large geological datasets a must.

      Required:

      • Knowledge of geologic programs: ArcGIS, Petrel and Kingdom.
      • Intermediate working knowledge in geology.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
      • Intermediate project organization and task management skills.
      • Demonstrated positive attitude and support for company culture and goals.
      • Intermediate knowledge of regulatory agency requirements.

      Desired:

      • Ability to write, understand, and implement script (i.e. Visual Basic, Python, etc)
      • Intermediate knowledge of oil and gas operations, production, and reserves.
      • Regional experience in several oil and gas producing fields, including exposure to multiple state regulatory agencies.

        Work Environment

        • Primarily office work environment.
        • Routine work involves common office activities during a typical 9-hour day such as standing, sitting, walking, typing, and twisting as necessary.
        • May be required to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
        • Must follow all company safety policies, including when visiting field locations.

        Compensation and Benefits

        The pay range for this position in California is between $79,040 and $93,860 annually based on a full-time schedule. Please note that the annual salary information is a general guideline, and that annual salary will vary depending on your location and that Berry Corporation (“Berry”) will consider factors such as (but not limited to) scope of responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considers when extending an offer. This position is eligible for short-term cash incentive bonus and long-term incentive awarded in restricted share units, excellent benefits including full health benefits, 401(k) with company match and immediate vesting, tuition reimbursement, 9/80 flex schedules, and generous paid time off.
