- Manage the geology team, directing workflow and planning for the different workforce needs while ensuring proper levels of efficiency and productivity;
- Propose in collaboration with the exploration and the technical services departments exploration, conversion and delineation drilling programs or any specific program required;
- Plan, propose, recommend and follow-up budgets (yearly and life of mine) for the geology department;
- Ensure proper reporting of the different geology activities (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly);
- Plan, oversee, validate and/or sign mineral resources and mineral reserves estimates of the mine and developing projects while complying with laws and regulations;
- Participate in the assessment of the mineral potential of acquisition and exploration projects, and analyze associated risks and opportunities;
- Act as a Qualified Person for the various projects of the company in compliance with the NI-43-101 standard;
- Contribute to economic preliminary studies, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, coordinating the work of your team with the work of other disciplines and producing technical reports;
- Provide and coordinate technical support in geology to operations and exploration divisions;
- Assess, organize and approve the required departmental trainings;
- Keep your department at the forefront of new technologies, following the best practices in the mining industry;
- Respect and promote the standards of the company and the governmental policies and regulations at play.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or Geological Engineering;
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a similar role, in underground mining, production and exploration for gold;
- Hold all qualifications and requirements to act as a Qualified Person as defined in the NI-43-101 standard;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
- Schedule: 4 days of work, followed by 3 days for transportation and rest at our Detour UG project;
- You must be flexible to adapt to the operational needs of the mine site, meaning a 7/7 or 10/10 schedule may also be required;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
The Detour UG project is an advanced underground exploration project based out of Detour mine project located in Northern Ontario. Reporting to the Manager, Detour Lake Underground Operations, you will be part of the Geology Department. You will ensure the proper geological practices of the team are being followed in terms of planning, organizing, managing and controlling programs to define and extract the mineral reserves/resources existing at the mining site and in its vicinity. You will play an important role in the life of mine and departmental cost management. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
