District - Assist in setting up classroom before school starts, if needed
- Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of lesson plans
- Provide routine support for students and teacher
- Check student G/T files for completeness
- Look up and copy from permanent file any missing documents
- Update/create lists of students, contract completion charts and other informational lists as needed
- Make file labels, file tabs, and folders for G/T students and talent pool students
- File, update, copy, and organize any correspondence, forms, student information packets, etc... to be sent out
- Review and organize contract materials, manipulatives and make copies of worksheets as necessary
- Set up time clock and edit times as necessary
- Run weekly time reports and transfer information into excel file and print reports
- Assist students with work, review and place checked work in students’ files
- Perform mail merge for conference letters with times after the end of each nine weeks
- Complete and submit transportation requests for field trips (done at the beginning of each school year for the entire year, and during year as necessary)
- File copies before submitting to office
- Supervise and conduct/teach advisory and/or seminar activities when G/T specialist is out or unavailable
- Make monthly calendars. When approved, make copies and distribute to office, core teachers’ boxes, and give remainder to G/T specialist to distribute to students
- Make phone calls as necessary (confirmation of field trip dates, transportation, etc.)
- Write receipts for money received
- Create, copy, and turn in cash count sheets
- Place “Identified G/T” sticker on outside of permanent folders of identified students in the registrar’s office
- Accompany G/T Specialist on service learning trips, if needed
- Complete student file folders at the end of the school year
- Assist students in separating, recording and filing work in portfolios
- Assist G/T Specialist as needed
- Adhere to all policies of the district
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Director of GT and AP Programs, the building administrator and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy
- Ability to work with middle school aged students
- Ability to demonstrate competency in the areas of developmentally appropriate programming and daily classroom management
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed
- Ability to organize and coordinate work
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
- Ability to travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as needed
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
- Minimum of 60 college hours required on transcript - OR - have successfully passed the Paraprofessional Exam
- Successful completion of all background checks
