The Peabody Essex Museum (PEM), one of the largest and most dynamic art museums in the nation, is seeking a Gifts and Endowment Accountant. For over 220 years, PEM has been an anchor in the community, serving as a gathering place where anyone can learn, derive inspiration, and gain a deeper appreciation for shared human experiences from around the globe and through time.
Reporting to the Controller & Director of Finance, the Gifts and Endowment Accountant coordinates and performs confidential and diversified administrative and support services for the Finance Department for the restricted giving and investments functions of the organization. This position interacts with other departments of Peabody Essex Museum as a function of the reconciliation and fund balance process, and is relied upon by the Investment Committee for detailed insight on PEM’s investment activity. Other responsibilities include account analysis and reconciliation, journal entries, and the preparation of supporting schedules to financial statements.
As a key member of the Finance and Accounting Team, the Gifts and Endowment Accountant plays an active role in contributing to continuous improvement and adoption of more effective processes and tools, specifically with the way information is processed between sub ledgers and the general ledger.
PEM is looking for candidates that have a minimum of five years experience in a related position, a bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience, strong organizational and communication skills, knowledge of payroll processing software and accounting principles, and attention to detail and accurate data entry skills are all preferred. The hiring range for this role will be $80,000 to $85,000 commensurate with experience.
