Joining employer is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience and grow professionally. As an intern, you will work closely with the Tech Team to research and format shapefiles for political boundaries. You will also have the opportunity to attend topical meetings or webinars and develop skills in GIS, research, data entry, and coding. This is a part-time remote internship, and you will be compensated at $15.00 per hour.

Responsibilities:
- Research legal requirements for voter eligibility in different types of elections
- Source maps through online research, outreach to government offices, or georeferencing to create new shapefiles
- Test and format files to conform to Ballotpedia's database requirements
- Add boundaries to the Ballotpedia database and perform tests
- Other GIS or database-oriented activities assigned based on skill, interest, and need
Requirements:
- GIS experience using tools such as ArcGIS or QGIS
- Research/data entry experience
- Some coding knowledge (Python, SQL) a plus, but not required
Additional Information:
- The fall 2023 internship runs from Monday, September 11, 2023, to Friday, December 8, 2023.
- Ballotpedia is happy to facilitate credit for your internship experience.
- Interns will work remotely and must have a well-functioning computer with internet access.
- Compensation is $15.00 per hour, or in accordance with the area's minimum wage if higher.About the company
