What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Evaluate and manipulate spatial and attribute information for various GIS projects
- Reconcile results of geospatial analysis and prepare documentation and reports
- Ensure data procurement and quality assurance
- Communicate effectively regarding data needs and project priorities
- Handle multiple tasks and adjust to changing priorities while working independently or as part of a team
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum two-year degree or applicable professional experience; Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, Science, or related field preferred
- 3-5 years of experience working directly with GIS data, preferably in a consulting environment or within government agencies
- 3-5 years of experience with the Esri ArcGIS suite
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond effectively to changing priorities
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Familiarity with Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) is a plus
- Strong writing and presentation skills
- Ability to translate technical concepts into layman’s terms
- Experience with Python, HTML, or JavaScript
- Ability to travel and perform fieldwork within Alaska if required
