      Responsibilities

      The GIS Coordinator will manage GIS operations within the Department of Public Works, overseeing the integration and maintenance of spatial data in the Enterprise Geographic Information System (EGIS) and Geographic Land Information Systems (GLIS). Responsibilities include supervising GIS staff, managing data processes and developing GIS applications to support departmental needs. The role involves coordinating the acquisition and integration of spatial data, maintaining databases and digital maps and leading GIS projects. The GIS Coordinator will ensure compliance with data standards, provide mentorship and training to survey staff and collaborate with other city departments on GIS and CAD technology issues. Additionally, the role includes analyzing GIS data for city projects and maintaining knowledge of administrative policies and procedures.

      Minimum Qualifications

      Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Systems, Geography, Urban Planning, Cartography, Civil Engineering or other closely related field AND 3 years of experience in one of the following areas: GIS Programming or GIS database administration/support and installing, updating and using GIS software packages, in the use of GIS applications for utilities, environmental and/or public safety, land surveying, Geographic Information Systems or GIS Mapping. OR Associate’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Systems, Geography, Urban Planning, Cartography, Civil Engineering or other closely related field AND6 years of experience in one of the following areas: GIS Programming or GIS database administration/support and installing, updating and using GIS software packages, in the use of GIS applications for utilities, environmental and/or public safety, land surveying, Geographic Information Systems or GIS Mapping. OR Registration as a Professional Surveyor pursuant to Section 4733.02 of the Ohio Revised Code AND6 years of experience with land surveying mapping systems and GIS Mapping. Knowledge of ESRI's, ArcGIS, ArcInfo, ArcView and ArcEditor software is required. Experience with AutoCAD or Micro Station is a plus. Degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission or equivalent region.

      License Requirements

      Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.
