- Prepare documents utilizing one or more software programs.
- Assembles and distributes correspondence and other materials.
- Schedules meetings and appointments.
- Prepares and distribute and organizes documents, such as agreements, contracts, resolutions, agendas, and reports; prepares mailings; prepares standard forms and related records according to established procedures.
- Conducts research and compiles reports from a variety of sources.
- Assists in the performance of administrative tasks.
- Receives visitors and answers telephone, responds to inquiries, provides information requiring an understanding of department policies and procedures.
- Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent
- Current enrollment in undergraduate or graduate studies in an accredited college or university with major course work in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
- While no prior work experience is required, preference will be given to individuals with prior related work experience.
- Must be proficient in Windows 7,1 0 and experienced in Windows Deployment services is preferred.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a good driving record required.

Job Summary
Under general supervision, interns perform a wide variety of entry level to difficult technical duties in support of a segment of departmental activity.

GIS Support – will be assigned to perform technical/paraprofessional tasks related to geographic data and mapping in application to a variety of planning, engineering, and administrative functions. This is an excellent opportunity that will allow students to gain experience working in the GIS Department, as well as learn about municipal government functions and tasks related to the program area.
Essential Functions• Utilize various imaging software to create standard loads on City computers• Install and verifies operation of software package, based on user and departmental needs• Stays current on hardware changes, and maintains computer images accordingly• Works in Active Directory and helpdesk ticketing systems to ensure accurate asset management• Assists in the deployment of computer equipment and other projects, as necessary.
Internship Highlights
• Creates and maintains spatial data in the City's Enterprise GIS.
• Applies Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques to develop internal & external reports
• Conducts data formatting relating to transit operations analysis.
• Collects, updates, integrates, and documents geospatial data from the field to existing GIS datasets.
• Communicates and collaborates with City Departments to address and resolve GIS related services and/or issues. Essential Functions

Interns are assigned to an operational job title based on their level of education and individual background and experience:
Administrative/Council Intern - students currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in a freshman or sophomore standing or enrolled in a graduate level courses with a focus/emphasis on finance, business administration, management, public administration, or human resources.
Engineering Intern - students currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program with a focus/emphasis in civil engineering or computer science, in a junior, senior standing or enrolled in a graduate level program.
Planning Intern - students currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program with a focus/emphasis in planning in a junior, senior standing or enrolled in a graduate level program
Senior Administrative/Council Intern - students currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in a junior or senior standing or enrolled in a graduate level courses with a focus/emphasis on finance, business administration, management, public administration, or human resources.
Software Development Intern – students currently enrolled in an Associates of Arts or Bachelor's degree program in information technology or related field.
Veteran Intern – a member of the U.S. Armed Forces who is entering the civilian workforce and is interested in exploring local government career opportunities and seeking to gain valuable work experience.
