- Design, develop, code, and test technical solutions
- Write code to deliver features, and improvements, on a regular basis
- Investigates and resolve technical problems and production issues through troubleshooting techniques
- Continually improves operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures.
- Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
- Follows the software development lifecycle.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
- Bachelor’s Degree or 4 additional years of experience beyond the minimum requirement can be used in lieu of a degree OR Approved certification from CodeUp, Galvanize, VetFIT (Veterans for IT) or eFIT (Employees for IT).
- 2 years of software development experience specific to a discipline/technology.
- 1 year of experience delivering technology solutions in all phases of the software systems and application development lifecycle.
- Basic Understanding of one or more of the following: Java, Swift, Objective-C, Cobol, JavaScript, Kotlin, C++, HTML, CSS, SQL, Go, and Python
- Knowledge and understanding of troubleshooting applications and systems within production issues.
- Ability to quickly understand applicable business acumen to provide appropriate Engineering solutions
- Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.
- Basic understanding of cloud technologies and tools.
- Demonstrated technical skills with data management and working knowledge of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS).
- Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise to create and manage GIS Web services, applications, and data.
- Experience with scripting languages such as JavaScript and Python
- Experience building and maintaining REST APIs
- Working knowledge of Linux operating systems

We are seeking a talented GIS software engineer to join the Enterprise Location and Geospatial Intelligence team. This role will focus on providing support through maintaining and delivering best in class enterprise GIS technology solutions. As a member of the LGI agile team, you will be engaged in all phases of the software and application development lifecycle which include gathering and analyzing requirements, designing, testing, documenting, implementing software, and responding to outages.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $ 74,210.00 - $ 141,830.00.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
