- Establishes & leads the global HEMA organization for Olympus:
- Sets the vision and the strategy for the global HEMA organization supporting across the businesses, regions, and portfolio of Olympus.
- Develops group objectives and initiatives to strengthen global HEMA and aligned to business objectives.
- Advises and drives innovative HEMA strategies and priorities (such as value assessment framework, novel funding mechanisms and pricing strategies) to advance success of our products across the global markets.
- Fosters capabilities and skills development within the group to support innovation and anticipation of local market trends that inform new and effective market access strategies.
- Develops and manages global HEMA resourcing, budgets, and portfolio.
- Leads the creation and impactful implementation of global HEMA strategies
- Collaborates with Business Unit and Regional Heads and other Global Heads of Medical & Scientific Affairs functions to align on key business needs and priorities for HEMA.
- Leads the development of strategic economic value proposition of Olympus products demonstrating the differentiated economic value of our technologies and providing competitive advantage.
- Advises and informs global market access approaches and payer strategies based on evidence-based insights, trends and developments. · Promotes innovative global health economics/outcomes research for the Olympus portfolio.
- Ensures ongoing assessment of HEMA strategies and evidence opportunities to strengthen and advance market access.
- Directs the development of key market access policy positions and strategies that address barriers and advance payer market adoption and penetration
- Works closely with key stakeholders to ensure awareness of market access policy insights, positions, and areas of focus to advance access and enable/shape external advocacy efforts.
- Provides strategic advisement and supports external engagement to advance HEMA objectives
- Leads responses to inquiries regarding technology assessment committees driving value of products.
- Accesses appropriate expertise and guidance when addressing external reimbursement inquiries.
- Promotes exchange and dissemination of evidence-based information with all relevant external stakeholders.
- Develops and cultivates external global network of policy stakeholders, market access experts and advisors to advance access policy objectives and inform on global and regional specific trends/topics of importance to Olympus
- Master’s degree in business administration, health policy, health economics, life sciences or healthcare. MBA, PhD, MD or PharmD preferred.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of Biotechnology/pharmaceutical/device industry experience in health economics and outcomes research or other related function.
- Previous track record of working in Health Economics & Reimbursement for medical devices
- A minimum of 6 years of progressive leadership/management experience in Health Economics and Market Access.
- Experience leading health economics and outcomes research and overseeing delivery of research outcomes (e.g., budgetary impact, cost-effectiveness, cost-utility analyses, prospective studies, real world evidence studies, and claims database analysis).
- Experience in evaluation of the economic value of products and therapies with the clinical and quality of life outcomes data from clinical trials and/or epidemiology studies.
- Experience in the development and execution of lifecycle economic evidence and market access strategies enabling market access and commercial success.
- Experience in representing the voice of external, non-clinical stakeholders, such as payers and providers.
- Experience in scientific evidence generation (real world evidence HEOR, Phase IV trials) and scientific information exchange with all key stakeholders.
- Scheduling flexibility to commit to a global schedule navigating multiple time zones with extended hours into the early morning as well as late evenings (e.g., Eastern Standard Time: UTC-5, Central European Time: UTC+1, and Japan Standard Time: UTC+9)
- Travel up to 20%
- Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills across all levels of the organization and with external payor and hospital value groups.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities focused on hiring, developing and retaining a world-class team as well as success driving results.
- Fluent in English, additional language is a plus.
