- Managing 4 people (GMD + GMM x3), interfacing with the Voltaren Innovation team and working closely with Design, Insights (CBIA) and CCAT (Content Approval) teams.
- To set direction, empower, motivate and guide the team of direct reports, setting strong behavioural examples in personal development, demonstration of values and engagement of a diverse workforce.
- To play a senior role within the wider brand team & with cross functional partners (e.g., R&D, medical) – ensuring cohesion of innovation, comms, design and expert team thinking and deliverables through to the consumer in a seamless manner
- Exceptional relationships and ability to influence senior stakeholders in region / BU and LOC marketing / commercial excellence and cross-functional teams to be close to key market performance, consumer, and competitor trends, ensure alignment and brilliant programme delivery with the ability to problem solve for performance in a timely fashion.
- Maintain strong relationships with agencies & strategic partners to deliver best-in-class campaigns that strengthen brand equity and build brands that are first choice among HCPs.
- Build, socialize, and act against a clear brand heart and purpose to shape all elements of brand strategy: including but not limited to human experience journey mapping, brand architecture, pricing strategy, innovation strategy, brand expansion strategy, audience insight development & deployment, brand asset development & deployment.
- Contribute to overall business building: addressing P&L levers, value chain / cost of goods management.
- Transfer best practices and drive exceptional market engagement Develop global marketing initiatives to drive business growth; ensure all consumers connections deliver against enterprise purpose of ‘everyday health with humanity’.
- Support the brand activation against RGM, the ‘how to win’ levers for unlocking penetration in markets.
- Ensure brand is future fit: embrace personalization at scale through the use of 1P/2P/3P data, consider new business models such as direct to consumer and lifetime value as ways to mine revenue from repeat purchase, leverage digital commerce across the brand experience.
- Ownership and deployment of the Media Strategy (Volt Unleashed), while working closely with Publicis Media + Publicis Lausanne to build 100% integrated plans. Tracking market data, MMM’s and effectiveness studies learnings shared and implemented.
- Delivery and ownership of Digital content strategies across the Digital consumer Experience Journey by developing the Digital brand Experience and Global platforms to drive online sales growth. The role requires knowledge of data and PPI, privacy and protection, handling consumer data and working with enterprise teams to build robust, safe platforms.
- While the GMDD role has direct ownership of the Comms and Brand Strategy team, Innovation reports directly to the GBL Voltaren. The brands single biggest opportunity for growth sits in Innovation and the GMDD will be responsible for oversight of the total brand plans (Brand Growth Plan + 3/1) to ensure our Innovation plans are right sized and fit for purpose in the markets we operate in. This will include oversight and preparation for PMB, 3/1 Innovation Sales and Market Visits or communications plans.
- Marketing Degree, 10 years’ experience in FMCG or Consumer marketing
MBA, Masters in Marketing / Communications / Business Management
12+ years’ experience in Healthcare Consumer Marketing

About the role – GMDD Voltaren
The primary purpose of the role is to lead the Communications and Brand Strategy for Voltaren globally, interfacing closely with the Voltaren Innovation team to ensure continuity on programs and launches in the future. The GMDD (Global Marketing and Digital Director) role is critical to the success of the Voltaren business, which is over £800m annually and present in over 100 markets globally.
The GMDD Voltaren manages a team of 4 people, including 1 Global Marketing Director and 3 Global Marketing Managers.
The role requires a deep understanding of the consumer, as patient, shopper, and user, across markets globally. Using data, insights, competitive analysis, design market input, and RGM findings, the Global Marketing and Digital Director will identify opportunities for growth and performance improvement, make clear strategic choices on what to prioritize, and set the brand direction to seize the growth. Very strong relationship building skills and clear, concise communication are required as the role interacts with senior Global and Executive stakeholders on a daily basis in our most important BU’s and markets.
