      About the role

      Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, this position represents a unique opportunity to lead this high performing Legal team, supporting our senior leaders and helping to cement Coles’ position as Australia's best food retailer.

      What you’ll be doing

      In this role you will have responsibility for designing, developing and delivering a forward-thinking legal strategy, focusing on transformation and ensuring full compliance and accountability across all brands.

      Working across multiple internal business units you will guide your team to deliver our legal strategy and mitigate risk to the business. You will also take the lead role managing the company through high profile, complex legal matters that call for your knowledge and experience.

      To succeed in this role, you will be committed to building and sustaining a thriving, high performing legal team that focuses on strategic matters enabling Coles to appropriately balance risk and reward, and adapt and respond proactively to new and changing environments.

      What you’ll need

      • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a senior legal role within an ASX top 50 business or top tier law firm
      • Proven team leadership, coaching and professional development experience
      • Extensive corporate legal technical practice
      • Proven transformation and change management experience
      • Deep knowledge and understanding of Competition and Consumer Law and experience working on complex legal matters within a fast-paced commercial environment
      • Experience dealing with Australian regulatory bodies
