      GNETS Program Coordinator at Mainstay Academy

      REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education

      JOB GOAL: To promote ongoing program and instructional improvement. To promote students’ social, emotional, behavioral and academic improvement through collaborative planning and implementation of GNETS services and individual student educational plans (IEPs). To support instructional and support staff through active supervision and professional learning.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

      • Masters degree and valid Georgia Certificate in Educational Leadership, Instructional Leadership, or a related area.
      • 5 years of experience working with children and youth with emotional and behavioral disabilities

      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

      • Strong organizational skills
      • Strong communication skills
      • Ability to work within a specific time frame to meet deadlines
      • Ability to ascertain students’ strengths/ needs identified through observation, psychological testing, and criterion-referenced testing
      • Ability to practice positive, proactive, self-monitoring, and able to resolve conflicts in a professional manner
      • Knowledge of Teacher Keys Evaluation System (TKES) to evaluate teachers
      • Strong special educational background / training in psychology and or counseling
      • Experience working in a GNETS or similar program
      • Training in Positive Behavior Supports, Applied Behavior Analysis, brain-based learning, functional behavior analysis, Response Abilities Pathways, Life Space Crisis Intervention
      • Physical Demands: Should be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, operate office machinery / equipment, have proficient computer skills, and manage high levels of stress at times.

      DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      1. Works collaboratively and communicates regularly with the Special Education Director and members of the leadership team
      2. Provides support to Special Education Director through active involvement in student meetings (IEP, manifestation, parent teacher, social work, etc.), building and district meetings, and training as assigned.
      3. Serves as a liaison between the Special Education Director and school-based staff members, district-level leadership, and community agencies
      4. Coordinates the provision of special services to students (occupational therapy, speech, physical therapy, evaluation, etc.) ensuring the appropriate scheduling of such services and availability of space.
      5. Supervises and evaluates instructional programming for the GNETS program.
      6. Supervises and evaluates social, emotional, and behavioral support programming,
      7. Supervises and evaluates faculty and staff as assigned
      8. Review and provide feedback on routine paperwork (medication log, IEPs, etc)
      9. Conducts formative observations and walk-through observations
      10. Develops Professional Development Plans
      11. Writes letters of directive and conducts feedback conferences as needed
      12. Facilitates student transfers, student services consideration, student placement in and exit from Mainstay Academy, and GNETS services reports
      13. Works closely with system-level testing coordinators to supervises state and district-wide standardized testing for Mainstay students.
      14. Serves as a resource to the Mainstay Academy staff, parents, and teachers regarding support, problem solving, crisis intervention, and programming
      15. Plans, schedules, and facilitates staff meetings and treatment team meetings
      16. Observes students in LRE, completes related written reports, and provides related consultation.
      17. Coordinates timely IEP, Eligibility, Manifestation and Parent- Teacher -Social Work meetings.
      18. Actively participates in functional behavioral assessments and the development of positive behavior intervention plans.
      19. Completes reports as required / requested by Special Education Director.
      20. Assists with end-of-year check-out procedures
      21. Provides school districts with accurate FTE information as required
      22. Attends Special Education Department Leadership, district, and professional development meetings as required.
      23. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
