Lead BSI’s relationships with a range of government departments and establish BSI as a trusted delivery partner by ensuring they understand our standards can support delivery of their policy objectives.
Build an understanding of the objectives and workings of these departments along with a strong network of contacts. Identify opportunities for standards to support government policy objectives.
Influence policy makers and regulators to routinely consider standards as a tool to deliver their policy objectives using their National Standards Body.
Build a presence for BSI within Parliament and policy think-tanks to promote the use of standards to support public policy.
Manage relationships, including at a senior level, to establish BSI and yourself as a credible, knowledgeable and ‘go to’ source of information on standardization.
Establish BSI as a thought leader and contributor to the policy development process.
Prepare responses to consultations and monitor parliamentary activity.
Experience working within government or managing senior-level relationships across government.
Strong understanding of public policy and the policy-making process.
Knowledgeable in the new Labour Government’s priorities, including its five missions.
Effectively communicate BSI’s key messages to target audiences
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

About the role:
BSI, the UK’s National Standards Body, is seeking a Government Engagement Manager to enhance our relationships within government and raise the profile of standardization. As a key partner in delivering policy objectives across various sectors, you will work closely with government departments to identify opportunities for standardization and ensure BSI’s early involvement in the policy development process.
