Job Description

- Analyze loan-to-value ratios, debt-to-income ratios, credit reports, applications, income and asset documentation, appraisals, and other loan documentation to ensure that each loan meets the standards set forth by AFR and governing agencies for residential mortgages.
- Manage and maintain a pipeline of loans while staying within service level agreements (SLAs).
- Calculate borrower incomes and complete necessary income calculation worksheets.
- Review, update, verify, and clear all underwriting approval and suspense conditions.
- Efficiently communicate with internal and external partners to gather documentation and information necessary to finalize the loan process.

- Obtain additional documentation to support value when necessary, including review of Collateral Underwriter and Loan Collateral Advisor
- Ensure data integrity within the loan file is consistent including but not limited to the Automated Underwriting Systems.
- Suggest process and policy improvements and provide feedback based on your experiences.
- Move between multiple loans and tasks, with constant prioritization as circumstances change.
- Maintain current knowledge of all industry announcements
- Provide superior customer service to internal and external partners.
- Review and mitigate QC findings as appropriate
- Participate in and provide feedback for underwriting training.
- Perform additional duties relevant to the role as assigned.
- Have a high school diploma / GED or at least 2 years of professional work experience.
- Are a quick learner who can adapt to changing regulations and technologies.
- Are committed to providing exceptional customer service and building strong relationships with borrowers and internal stakeholders.
- Have a positive attitude and a willingness to ensure both internal and external client’s needs are fulfilled.
- Can make sound underwriting decisions, even in challenging situations.
- Have a basic understanding of various loan programs, including FHA, VA, and USDA.
- Effectively communicate program requirements, conditions, and needs to loan stakeholders.
- Manage your pipeline and time based on importance, urgency, and priorities set by the organization.
- Problem-solve issues by working with partners and clients.
- Possess at least one year of experience using Encompass.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Have a strong work ethic and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Adapt communication and requests to different audiences regularly.
- Are able to demonstrate the AFR core values through actions.
