Job summary
We currently have a part time job opportunity at St Georges Surgery. You can join our team in the role of GP Receptionist/Care Navigator. The hours will be 5.5 hour per day over 5 days. Week one you will be required to work 7.45am till 1.15pm and week two, you will work 1pm till 6.30pm. You will also cover extended hours from 6.30pm till 8.30pm on a rota system with colleagues.
We are a long-established, GP training practice of just over 10,000 patients that is steadily growing. We are a happy, friendly place with several long-serving staff members. We have a favourable reputation among the local population and excellent relationships with neighbouring practices. We were rated Good by CQC at our last inspection and our QOF achievements are high.
Main duties of the job
You will need to have good IT skills, familiarity with EMIS web and excellent interpersonal skills for our public facing work. This is offered as a permanent position subject to satisfactory probationary period and DBS check.
About us
Ours is a clinical team of seven regular GPs (five of whom are partners), one Advanced Nurse Practitioner, two Practice Nurses, one Nurse Associate and one HCA. The clinicians are well-supported with a full team of administrative and management staff.
We are a forward-looking practice that promotes the development of ARRS roles and to this end, we currently host a Physicians Associate, two Clinical Pharmacists, one Pharmacy Technician and a Mental Health Practitioner.
We value learning and development for the whole practice, and we timetable several learning events and meetings through the year. We train people in various stages of their careers, including medical students, foundation year doctors and GP trainees.
We are working towards making effective use of digital systems to deliver the best possible care for our patients.

Job responsibilities
a. Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system
b. Management of repeat prescriptions, ensuring they are processed accurately and efficiently
c. Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments
d. Action incoming faxes when necessary
e. Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately
f. Signpost patients to the correct service
g. Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies
h. Read code data on EMIS WEB
i. Photocopy documentation as required
j. Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
k. Input data into the patients healthcare records as necessary
l. Direct requests for information i.e. SAR, insurance / solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team
m. Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
n. Carry out system searches as requested
o. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
p. Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards
q. Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
r. Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records
s. Manage workflow tasks on a daily basis
Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota
