      Job summary

      Clifton Lane Surgery are looking to recruit a Receptionist/Administrator for our small yet very busy practice.

      The post holder will be expected to provide an efficient reception service to our patients whilst also providing clerical duties at the request of clinical and managerial staff.

      The post is for part time hours Mon-Fri and the successful applicant must be flexible and available to work full time hours when required to cover sickness and annual leave.

      Main duties of the job

      The ability to multi-task is essential on any reception and the successful applicant will ideally have previous experience of working within General practice.

      The successful applicant must also have:

      1. Excellent communication skills, including a good telephone manner.

      2. Good level of I.T skills and knowledge (experience of System One preferred but not mandatory).

      3. Ability to work as both part of a team and independently.

      4.Be available to open/close surgery at appropriate times.

      To ensure that the reception area of the Practice runs smoothly, provides a high level of service to patients, doctors, nurses and other members of the Practice team

      Duties and Responsibilities

      Telephone Duties

      1.

      Making appointments

      2.

      Taking requests for prescriptions

      3.

      Giving out results

      4.

      Ambulance transport bookings

      5.

      Home visit requests

      6.

      Deal with general enquiries and complaints

      7.

      Contacting other providers

      Reception Duties

      8.

      Register new patients and temporary residents

      9.

      Greet and direct patients and visitors

      10.

      Making appointments

      11.

      Handing out prescriptions

      12.

      Ensure outstanding queries are explained and handed over to next shift, as necessary

      13.

      Respond to needs of doctors and nurses during surgery

      14.

      Collect payments from patients for non-NHS services

      15.

      Deal with general enquiries and complaints

      Pulling medical envelopes when requested by doctors
