      Job summary

      Donnington Medical Practice is seeking a part-time GP Receptionist/Administrator for our busy practice. Primarily you will be the first point of contact, ensuring that all visitors receive a warm welcome and excellent service along with other reception duties such as managing the telephone and dealing with patient queries. You will also assist the team in administrative functions to support the running of the practice and contribute to patient care. The role will require an individual who is a quick learner and who is able to think on their feet. We are looking for an individual who is available to work 1:30pm until 6:30pm however other shifts and hours will be available as overtime. You must be flexible in your approach to the role and be available to work between 8:30am-6:30pm on a shift pattern. The role is for 25 hours per week.

      Main duties of the job

      The ideal applicant will have NHS experience, excellent IT skills and be able to demonstrate confidence in using computerised clinical systems. The ability to work well within a team is essential.

      We are a very busy GP practice with a list size of over 14,500 patients. You will join our team of non-clinical staff offering support to the management team and be involved in all departments.       Job responsibilities

      The ideal applicant will excellent IT skills and be able to demonstrate confidence in using computerised systems but training will be provided. The ability to work well within a team is essential. Providing general information for patients and other external service providers, assistance and directing patients in accessing the appropriate service. Answering the telephone and transferring calls to the appropriate healthcare professional. Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments,dealing with requests for home visits, rearranging appointments etc. Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system. Updating patients medical records as required. Assisting patients with the completion of any forms.. Filing, photocopying and scanning organisational documents, records, patients' documentations. Facilitating effective communication between patients, members of the health care team and visitors. Checking, filing and issuing prescriptions to patients and resolving any issues in relation to a prescription request. Reporting any problems with the premises, medical equipment or the running of the practice to the manager. Ensuring the reception area, waiting room,the entrance remain tidy and welcoming. Undertaking any other administrative duties that may arise from time to time to assist in the smooth running of the practice. This list is not exhaustive and gives a broad description of what type of work can be expected to be carried out in a GP Surgery.

      • Educated to GSCE grade C and above in Maths and English or equivalent, (or substantial experience in similar role will be considered)
      • demonstrable commitment to professional development.
