      Job summary

      Academic GP Programme Directors are responsible for providing education in a safe environment for doctors wanting to become GPs. This involves planning, facilitating and evaluating the process of learning. There will be support from the other Programme Directors.

      This involves planning, recruitment, facilitating and evaluating the process of learning for these trainee groups across London.

      This role will involve the strategic design and long-term development of the academic GP programme, with the support of the Primary Care Dean.

      An Academic GP Programme Director2 session per week post has become available in London with a view to starting from 1st July 2025 (negotiable). We are currently only able to appoint to post up until 31/10/2026,

      The post will be for 2 sessions a week (8 hours per week).

      Main duties of the job

      The Academic GP Training Programme Director will work with and support the Primary Care Dean in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions, aligned to the NHSE mandate and ensure the delivery of high-quality Academic GP specialty training and support the development of the Primary Care workforce in London.

      The role will include, amongst other responsibilities, overseeing the GP School programme management and advise the Head of School on the following matters:

      • Specialty-specific matters and trainee/trainer concerns.
      • Recruitment to training posts and programmes.
      • To use our educational resources to support learners within programmes to fulfil their full potential.

      Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
