      Grad Intern - CD&A Data Science Program

      Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. During this 10 to 12-week program, you will gain one of a kind hands-on experience to building a proven foundation for a career in the biopharmaceutical industry. Each summer intern will be placed on a team and assigned a project that is tied directly to our strategic and tactical goals.

      Specific roles and responsibilities could include:

      • Ability to participate in 10–12-week program between May 2024 – September 2024
      • Participate in on-site visit with internship cohort in July 2024
      • Collaborate with team members and cross-functional partners to deliver insights and data-driven solutions for business questions within predictive analytics, marketing investment optimization, and/or omnichannel marketing
      • Perform exploratory data analysis and data cleaning, build and evaluate machine learning models, create data visualizations and presentations, and communicate project findings to leadership and business partners
      • Develop professional, technical, and analytical skills while providing meaningful insights and recommendations for the business
      • Network with colleagues across the company, including full access to Amgen's Employee Resource Groups, networking/internship events, and an on-site visit to Amgen's headquarters in Thousand Oaks

      Basic Qualifications

      Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

      • 18 years or older
      • Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
      • Currently enrolled in an MBA program for an MBA internship OR a Master’s program for a Master’s internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR Ph.D. for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university and completion of the first year of MBA OR Master’s OR Pharm D OR Ph.D. program before the internship starts
      • Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment
      • Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
      • Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the internship OR co-op

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Currently completing graduate degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Business Analytics, or other relevant technical field
      • Graduation in December 2024 or May 2025
      • Potential for full-time offer upon successful completion of program and performance evaluation
      • Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and/or R
      • Familiarity with data science and machine learning-related libraries in Python (Pandas, ScitKit-Learn, TensorFlow, NumPy, etc)
      • Knowledge or experience with exploratory data analysis, model development and evaluation, data visualization, and presentation of findings
      • Highly motivated with eagerness to learn and adapt to new subjects
      • Effective communication and organizational skills
      • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
      • Ability to manage tasks and timelines to successfully meet project goals and objectives

      The base pay range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $30 - $40 per hour.
